Why I built Academic English Hub

Hi, I am Efe, the founder of Academic English Hub.

Academic English Hub started from my own experience preparing for the TOEFL. During that process, I realized that effective preparation is not just about completing a few full-length practice tests. It is about understanding exactly how each question type works, recognizing its patterns, and practicing it enough times that the approach becomes natural.

That idea became one of the core principles behind Academic English Hub. I strongly believe in mastering each TOEFL question type through repeated, focused practice. Instead of solving a question once and immediately moving on, students should have the opportunity to practice the same skill again and again with different questions, learn from their mistakes, and gradually develop a reliable strategy for every question type.

But practice alone is not enough. You also need to understand why an answer worked, where your reasoning went wrong, and how you can improve the next attempt.

That is why I built instant feedback directly into the learning experience. Academic English Hub uses state-of-the-art AI models to provide immediate, personalized feedback on areas such as speaking and writing, so students do not have to practice blindly or wait days to understand what they could improve.

My goal was to bring the entire TOEFL journey into one place: targeted question practice, realistic exercises, instant feedback, progress tracking, and the tools students need to understand both the exam and their own performance. I wanted to build the platform I would have wanted while preparing for the TOEFL myself.

Academic English Hub is still growing, and I continue to improve it by looking at how students actually use the platform, where they struggle, and what can make their preparation more effective.

What Academic English Hub is

Academic English Hub provides a free preparation plan for the current TOEFL iBT, with optional one-time packages for expanded content and AI-evaluation allowances. Its guides explain how the exam works, and its application contains original practice material for all four sections, with scoring and detailed review.

The test changed substantially in January 2026, bringing new task types, two adaptive sections, and a 1 to 6 score scale. A great deal of the TOEFL preparation material available online still describes the format that preceded it. This site was built around the current test rather than updated toward it.

Why it exists

Good TOEFL preparation tends to be either free and thin, or thorough and expensive. We wanted to make a useful free plan available while also supporting optional one-time packages that can expand content and AI-evaluation allowances without creating a recurring subscription.

The other motivation was accuracy. Preparing against an outdated description of an exam wastes a learner's time in a way that is invisible until test day, when a task appears that they have never seen. Keeping the material current is the main ongoing work here, not a launch task.

Who makes it

Academic English Hub is built and maintained by its founder, Efe Keskin. The platform, practice materials, guides, and learning tools are developed specifically for Academic English Hub rather than licensed from third-party test-preparation providers.

Our goal is to create practice that reflects the structure and skills tested on the TOEFL while remaining clear about what is official and what is not. Academic English Hub is an independent platform and is not affiliated with or endorsed by ETS.

Practice materials are reviewed against the current published TOEFL task structure before release. Reported issues are investigated and corrected when necessary, and informational pages are dated so readers can see when they were last reviewed.

We also aim to be transparent about how the platform works. Where AI is used, such as for certain forms of feedback or evaluation, this is clearly indicated. Other content and scoring logic are developed and reviewed separately.

Independence from ETS

TOEFL and TOEFL iBT are registered trademarks of ETS. Academic English Hub is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or approved by ETS, and we use those names only to describe the exam this site prepares people for.

No question on this site is an official or past ETS question. Every practice item is written by us. Where we state a fact about the exam's format, timing, or scoring, that fact comes from ETS's own published documentation and is linked from the page it appears on so you can check it against the source.

Results produced here, including AI feedback on writing and speaking, are our own estimates. Only ETS issues official TOEFL scores, and no practice result from this site or any other should be treated as a prediction of one.

How the site is funded

Academic English Hub offers a free plan as well as optional one-time paid packages that provide expanded content and AI-evaluation allowances. Paid packages do not renew automatically, and free practice does not require a card.

Costs are covered by advertising, which appears in one place: on completed practice results, below your score and its explanation. There are no ads while you are taking a test, none on question screens, timers, or transition screens, and none on sign-in or account pages. That restriction is enforced in code rather than by convention.

Getting in touch

Every practice question has a report button on its Help screen, which is the fastest way to flag a specific item. It sends us the identifiers we need to open exactly the question you were looking at.

Frequently asked questions

Is Academic English Hub official TOEFL material?

No. It is independent third-party preparation. TOEFL is a registered trademark of ETS, and this site is not endorsed or approved by ETS.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. Free practice and the public guides can be used without a card. Optional one-time paid packages may add content or AI-evaluation allowances; they do not renew automatically.

Do I need an account?

No. You can practise as a guest. An account saves your results across devices and lifts limits on AI evaluation, and anything you completed as a guest on that device transfers when you sign in.

Are these real past TOEFL questions?

No, and they could not legally be. Every item is written by us, built to the current published task structure but on our own topics.

Will a practice score here predict my real TOEFL score?

No. Practice results are estimates from our own scoring and are useful for tracking your progress and finding weaknesses, not for predicting an official result.
